I’m currently reading the book “The Richest Man in Babylon”. I would like to use this post to share my thoughts on the book as well as some of my favorite quotes.

This is my first experience into the world of blogging. I have read many blogs, books, and attended seminars on personal development, business, etc… and I thought that this would be a good way to share with the world my journey and learning experiences from being flat broke and in a lot of debt to a millionaire. I should probably mention that I just turned 26 two weeks ago and I’m working towards being a millionaire by the time I turn 28. Currently I help people negotiate there debts with their creditors to pay the bills. Go figure!! My definition of being a millionaire is having more than $1 million in cash, equity, etc… after debts are paid. So I’m obviously talking about net worth. After the market crash of 2008 I lost everything and I was hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. I spent most of 2009 feeling sorry for myself and believing that I was a loser. I was living with my girlfriend in a room that we were splitting the rent on in Los Angeles. This was the lowest point of my life. I felt that I didn’t deserve to be in a relationship with her because of all the pain that I had caused. About a month ago, we decided to separate and I moved up to the Bay Area and am currently renting a room in Alameda. I still talk to her everyday and our relationship seems to be getting better since we don’t see each other all the time. I guess we respect each other more since we aren’t physically together. This may seem ironic to some but after losing everything and being flat broke, the last person you want to see is your girlfriend at the end of the day telling you to get a job at the grocery store to pay the bills. I don’t hear this anymore which has taken a lot of the pressure off. I pretty much just take care of myself which to me is a lot easier than dealing with pressure from others (girlfriend, family, etc…)

I am a big believer in the Law of Attraction and part of the reason for creating this blog is to have your support and feedback as I take on the challenge to become a millionaire in 24 months. I will have to make some big changes in my life and set some shorter term goals as well as time frames to complete these goals. I will also share with you what I am doing on a day-to-day basis so that you can see how I am making progress. As I have learned from Tony Robbins, 80% of success is knowing why you want it (psychology) and the other 20% is knowing how (mechanics). I look forward to hearing your words of encouragement as well as suggestions and feedback. Thank You.

Living in abundance – The Millionaire Mindset

There is a common theme that seems to be prevalent in a lot of teachings by those people who we consider to be super successful. The theme is that in order to attract wealth and riches into your life, you need to have a mindset of abundance. You need to feel that there is enough for everyone in the world and also feel that you deserve it. Of course there are other ingredients to the formula which I will get into later but I think this is fundamental to anything else.

I know that in the past I have sabotaged myself from being wealthy by coming from a place of lack and scarcity. A couple of years ago when I had my loan business, it never really occurred to me to save and invest conservatively. I spent a lot of money and took huge risks! When the markets crashed in 2008 I lost almost everything and was heavily in debt! It really affected my life and the lives of several people who were close to me in a very negative way. This was about a year ago. For most of 2009, I was depressed and barely making enough to pay my basic living expenses. My car was re-possessed by the bank and I was renting a room with my girlfriend in Los Angeles. This was the lowest point of my life. I didn’t even feel like I deserved to be in a relationship with this beautiful women anymore. I would take different jobs. I even moved in with my parents for a few months but that only made me feel worse. I felt like a loser for living at home rent free and being hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt at the same time.

This year has been the toughest year of my life but I feel that I am ready to pull out of this and move forward. I moved to the Bay Area a month ago and am currently renting a room in an apartment with a beautiful view of the Marina. I strongly believe that the only reason that I even have this goal to become a millionaire in 24 months is because by nature, it takes big challenges to motivate me. After everything that I’ve been through, it took me almost a year just to get to the point where I feel confident that I can achieve a goal like this. I have been listening to a lot of Tony Robbins, going on challenging hikes, and working out 4 times a week in the gym. This has really helped me to feel more confident as well as mentally stronger.
